New pricing: pay as you go, and subscriptions that actually save you money
Two changes to our pricing today, both prompted by the same piece of feedback.
Since we launched, the most common thing we have heard from smaller practices is some version of: “I do six assessments a month. Why am I paying for a seat as though I do thirty?”
It was a fair question, and we did not have a good answer. Now we do.
Pay as you go, from £12 a report
You can now pay per report instead of per seat. £12 per report on Essential, £14 on Professional. No monthly fee, no minimum, no commitment.
You still give us a card when you sign up, but nothing is charged until you submit a report — and your first report is free, so you can put a real building through the product before paying us anything at all.
Reports are counted as you submit them and invoiced on the 1st of the month for the month just gone. A report counts towards the month you submitted it in, right up to midnight on the last day, so there is no cut-off to plan around.
This is aimed squarely at sole traders, consultants and anyone with variable volume. If you have a quiet month, you pay for a quiet month.
Subscriptions are cheaper, and the maths now works
The second change is one we should have made sooner.
Our subscriptions were £125 and £165 per user per month. Set against £12 a report, that meant you needed to be doing more than ten reports a month before subscribing saved you anything. Calling that “subscribe and save” was a stretch.
So we have cut them:
| Plan | Was | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | £125 per user / month | £95 per month, one user |
| Professional | £165 per user / month | £105 per user / month, unlimited users |
Looking across how our customers actually use Assura, the typical assessor does around two assessments a week — roughly eight a month. At the new prices that is almost exactly where subscribing becomes the cheaper option: £95 covers just under eight reports at pay-as-you-go rates, £105 covers seven and a half.
So the rule of thumb is simple. Under eight reports a month, pay as you go. Over eight, subscribe — and the more you do, the further ahead you are, because a subscription includes unlimited reports.
Someone doing twenty reports a month on Essential would pay £240 as they go, or £95 subscribed. That is the point of a subscription, and now it behaves like one.
Nothing changes for what you get
Both billing modes give you the same product. The plans differ from each other — Professional adds custom dashboards, user management and priority support — but choosing pay as you go does not hold anything back. It is a billing decision, not a feature tier.
Subscriptions keep the 14-day free trial. Pay as you go has the free first report instead, which amounts to the same offer: try it properly before you spend anything.
If your volume changes, your pricing can follow it — get in touch and we will move you between the two.
A note on VAT
We are VAT registered, number GB 524 8406 90. The prices above are exclusive of VAT: 20% is added at checkout and shown separately on your invoice, so if you are VAT registered yourself you can reclaim it in the normal way.
We said on this page that we would tell you before VAT started being added, so this is us doing that.
The new prices are live now on the pricing page. If you are already with us and want to move between billing modes, drop us a line and we will sort it out.
